Our Services
Our licensed Texas attorneys provide property tax advocacy for commercial, residential portfolios, high-end residential, multi-family, land, ranches, industrial real property, industrial mineral assets, and business personal property (BPP) across all 254 counties in Texas. We manage the entire appeal process from initial protest through litigation and operate on a performance-based contingency model, meaning you pay nothing unless we successfully reduce your tax liability.
Commercial Real Estate Assets
Effective tax defense for income-producing property is about more than a lower appraisal—it’s about protecting your Net Operating Income. We look past basic market data to analyze complex rent rolls and cap rates, providing the litigation-backed advocacy required to hold appraisal districts accountable in district court.
Residential Real Estate Portfolios
Scaling property tax protests across an investment portfolio requires a unified legal strategy, not a property-by-property approach. We focus on identifying mass-appraisal errors and systemic inequities across entire counties, utilizing aggressive legal pressure to ensure your portfolio’s aggregate tax liability is minimized.
High-End Residential Real Estate Assets
Luxury estates are frequently victims of "prestige-based" overvaluation that ignores individual property nuances. We provide private, bespoke advocacy for high-value homeowners, utilizing specific market evidence and legal arguments to ensure your residence is taxed on its actual merits rather than a broad, high-end neighborhood average.
Aggregate & Industrial Minerals
While many Texas firms focus on “Oil & Gas,” we specialize in the unique valuation challenges of Solid Minerals and Brine Extraction. Mining property tax in Texas is not about flowing wells- it’s about heavy yellow iron, industrial processing plants, and complex land reclamation liabilities.
What owners ask before they sign.
Who handles my protest?
Licensed Texas attorneys. Your case is prepared and argued by an attorney, not a call center or a form-filler. When you call or email Fortress Tax Defense, you reach one of the owners of the firm, the attorney who will personally handle your case.
What does it cost?
Our fee is a share of what you save, at the protest or in court. If there is no reduction, there is no invoice. That has been the arrangement every season since 2020.
What happens after the Appraisal Review Board hearing?
If we believe there are still possible savings after the Appraisal Review Board protest, we can file in district court under the same fee arrangement. Most firms stop at the hearing. We don’t.
Which counties do you cover?
Every county in Texas, all 254 of them.
What types of property do you protest?
Residential, residential portfolios, multi-family, commercial, office, industrial, land, ranch, and business personal property (BPP).
I own several properties. Do I need a separate agreement for each?
No. One Appointment of Agent per property and one agreement cover the lot, in every county you own in. Fortress Tax Defense files in every county, argues every hearing, and takes the ones worth taking to district court.
How do I sign up?
Give us your details and your properties. We email you the Fortress Tax Defense agreement to sign electronically, together with the Appointment of Agent form, the State of Texas form that names Fortress Tax Defense as your agent for the protest. Sign both from your phone and our attorneys handle everything that follows.
Where can I see your results?
On our case studies site, casestudies.fortresstax.com. Each result shows the appraisal district’s notice value, the value after our protest, the value after litigation where a case went to court, and the reduction, county by county across Texas.
